About World Book
Starting in 1917, when World Book published the first edition of The World Book Encyclopedia, the company has built a reputation for award-winning reference and other educational materials that are both reliable and readable. Our content is keyed to the reading skills and comprehension levels of a variety of student populations. To its lines of best-selling reference, instructional books, and web-based subscription sites for students, World Book adds Incentive’s wide range of high quality content to offer additional engaging instructional products for classroom, home, and library.
A History of Incentive Publications
Incentive Publications began in the heart and mind of Imogene Forte in the mid 1960’s. She heard continual pleas from her graduate students for up-to-date, ready-to-use classroom resources that could complement standard textbooks. Imogene and a few hand-picked colleagues formed Incentive Publications in 1968 and began to create supplemental resources, including classroom learning activities, instructional strategies, and innovative classroom management ideas. Since Incentive began many things have changed but Incentive has remained true to Imogene’s original mission: providing educators with innovative, effective professional development resources and useful supplemental classroom materials.
